Artist's Comments
Poor Bianca noticed one day that her special fitted jeans weren't quite making it over the hips. She has a tough enough time going to school with the young college kids staring at her. Now, she finally decides it's time to see how much heavier her back seat is, since she knows the weight didn't go anywhere else.
Artist's Note: Wow, I am very happy with the new tablet! I am able to do so many more things at a faster pace. I really hope you like this one as I put alot of effort into it. Not to mention I did it in half the time that some of more elaborate pictures take. I hope to continue work like this and progress much more as an artist. And if your wondering, Bianca will be a recurring character from now on. CommentsThis pic came out fantastic. Your use of space, her body in contrast to her face, the complimentary colors. Everything about this just works exactly the way it should. I'll write a critique to go into more detail later, but for now, just know I'm going to give it five starts
-- Now that I have a subscription, I'll be twice as annoying and you can't stop me ^_^ Fantastic job, the two perspectives really help to make the pic even better
-- I believe human being and fish can coexist peacefully. Note me if you would like guest stories or want to talk. Note [link] for art trades of Jessica please. She is REALLY good and I highly suggest you check her gallery!!! |

But then you added the close up on her face in the background. The half dense and lightened colors make us think that this is less a close up on her face, and more like a look inside her mind, at how she is feeling about the results on the scale. This is supported by the very slim pale outline around her body, as if it is separating her from the background. And as for the image itself, the expression you gave her was masterfully done. It's a look of disappointment, but not depression, sort of a "sigh... really" look. And these sort of toned down and realistic expressions are far harder to create than the blown out exaggerated expressions. And it's by adding this background image that you achieve two goals. One, you came up with an original way to address the whole "big woman on a scale" approach. Normally it's a concept that's been done to death, but with this background foreground, inner thoughts outer body, contrast, you came up with a unique new approach to it. And secondly, normally when you have a single figure in a pic, there is tons of blank space that harms the overall image, but here you truly created an active background without weakening the foreground.
The other thing that truly impressed me with this picture were all the little details. The shine and light reflection over her body was dim enough to be realistic and not bright enough to distract us from the figure itself. The background color compliments her hair and skin tone perfectly. And my biggest compliment has to go to the angle of her body. The way that you have angled her feet, the scale, and her hips all form a triangle that points directly towards the background. As if subconsciously trying to draw our attention to her inner emotion.
I really have nothing bad to say about this, no matter how hard I look I can't find a fault. Once again you have proven yourself to be a true artist.
