The doors of the large school of magic creaked as a large female figure walked/waddled in with an air of serene grace. Having been away for several months on a personal vacation made Chesia happy to be back in a college like setting, even if she was teaching young magic users in training. What she felt was the most noticeable, was how over the time she'd been away, all those days of eating and sampling exotic cuisines had left its mark on her. If she was considered to have a blossoming figure inherited by the women in her family, then the young woman was now in full bloom. Regardless, living in a family that was loving and acceptance towards larger figures gave Chesia a calm manner and a unique sense of beauty that even those who were not attracted to larger bodies could feel. Smiling as she adjusted her glasses, she pulled down on her shirt over her pale and large belly while her ample bosom jiggled a bit. Her large hips brushed against the sides of the open doorway as she entered the classroom, the children inside hushing from their chatter as the large mage entered. Smiling to the young aspiring mages, Chesia held up her chubby hand as a fireball appeared in it and said in a soothing and soft voice; "Good morning kids, my name's Chesia Orinave, and I'm going to be your substitute teacher for today, I look forward to getting to know you and to teach you the many great things about magic that I know." From what I know of her she's overly sweet, like the embodiment of cuteness and all things warm and huggable (couldn't think of a better word for it, but I think that says it all). So that means the expression is going to be incredibly important in this picture, and I've always said the expression is the hardest thing to draw. Well I have to applaud how well you pulled this off. You were able to craft an expression that is warming and welcoming. It's the kind of look that makes you feel like she would want to talk to you, but is too shy to say anything. You really created some human emotions on this character, and for that I have to congratulate you.
As far as the body goes, you did an excellent job on her figure. Just like the expression, it's both realistic and overly friendly. Her pose and posture kind of reflects her reserved and shy, yet at the same time comforting, personality.
And I can't go without mentioning the coloring job you did here. From her purple hair to her gold bangles, everything pops here and springs off the page. And the warming background color perfectly compliments the colder colors of her clothes and hair, while at the same time being sort of comforting, thereby not overshadowing or contrasting Chesia herself. And colors of course brings me to the lighting, specifically the flame. I have to admit that the mild glow effect on the fire itself was a little too large, it sort of made the fire seem to split off from the page itself, separating itself from the rest of the picture. However, the way that you showed the lighting and shadows across her body were stunning. It was so well done that if I didn't know any better I'd swear you brought in a real model, put a match in her hand, and studied the light, because that's how well done this is.
So overall this picture truly captured Nexis's character, and your use of colors and lighting was truly impressive. Once again you have shown off your talent as an artist by being able to take on someone's original character and do it such justice.
